Commissioned by the Onsted Community Schools, Onsted, Michigan, Lee Robinson, Superintendent, for the Onsted High Choir, Linda Pratt, Director, and the Onsted High School Band, Doyle Rodenbeck, Director, for dedication ceremonies for the new high school, February, 2000 I. Let us make a new beginning, Let us start a brand new day. Cast aside all backward thinking, Forward in a bold new way. Hand in hand we march together, Toward the day when all will see, No one gains from hate or rancor, Brotherhood will set us free. II. One day soon all fear will vanish, Time will melt away our heart. All men then will surely banish Thoughts that keep us from that start. You and I so very diff'rent, Seems we never can agree. Even with our thoughts divergent, Brotherhood will set us free. III. Sing a song about compassion, Tell the world how much we care, Thoughts of peace will be in fashion, Challenge all to take the dare. Ev'ry man must join together, Strive as one and we will be Unified now and forever, Brotherhood will set us free. IV. Let us make a new beginning, Forward now with pledges clear. Vow to all to keep on winning, Fight for all that we hold dear. Friend or foe you are my brother, Care for all big as the sea. Wishing well for one another, Brotherhood will set us free.
